Welcome to the Retired Administrators Page!

Since MEP employees do not have collective bargaining rights, DASA is the only association recognized by School Board Rule to engage in the “Meet and Confer” process with the Superintendent on issues of interest and concern to administrators.
Some of the many benefits provided to you through your membership in DASA includes:
  • The sick leave bank which offers you added protection in case of a prolonged illness.
  • Financial planning advice that can cost as much as $500.00 for non-members.  Also, Liberty Mutual Insurance offers discounts on automobile insurance.
  • The DASA Legal Defense Assistance Plan is also provided free with your membership, should you ever encounter a legal problem related to your employment.  You are entitled to one hour of free consultation and advice.  If you require our attorney’s services, their hourly rate is discounted by 30%.

Healthcare

Cigna healthcare plans continue to be offered to eligible retirees, and dependents who are under age 65, or dependents over age 65 and not Medicare eligible: Cigna OAP 10 (only offered to current participants), Cigna OAP 20 and Cigna LocalPlus. Cigna LocalPlus is comprised of a network of physicians who have demonstrated the best outcomes. Check to see if your doctor has been added.

  • These healthcare plans are offered on a guaranteed basis.
  • If enrolling in a Cigna Healthcare plan, you and your eligible dependent must enroll in the same healthcare plan.
  • You are not required to select a Primary Care Physician and referrals are not needed when seeking services from a specialist.
  • We strongly encourage you and/or your covered dependent(s) to establish a relationship with a physician.
  • In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) medical, Rx costs, deductibles and co-insurance are counted toward your Annual Maximum Out-of-Pocket (MOOP). Participants save more, because once the MOOP has been reached; the participant will be covered 100 percent and will have no other healthcare costs to pay.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) continues to offer Retirees and their eligible dependents Medicare healthcare plans and Prescription Drug Plans (PDP).

You must contact the Medicare healthcare company directly for assistance with your enrollment. Proof of Medicare enrollment in both parts A & B must be provided at the time of enrollment.
